We woke up for Day 4 of NYFW feeling refreshed and ready to take on the world. Our wake up was at 6:00am as we had a 7:30 shoot with the lovely, Lauren of Laurel Creative. Despite the early call time, we had such an amazing shoot. Lauren got a bunch of the quintessential “New York” blog photos, and we cannot wait to show you! They are amazing.

NYFW Day 4 Recap:

Since it was our last day, we were SO done with outfits and stressing out about our street style. It was so nice to throw on this loose dress & casual t-shirt look. A huge thanks to Trendlee for loaning us that amazing red Saint Laurent bag seen above. It was so fun to have some red bags to play with during our time in the big apple! After our shoot with Lauren, we headed downtown to Cipriani for lunch with Emily’s grandmother. While we were waiting for her outside the restaurant we had a perfect view of the world trade center. We took a moment to reflect on how surreal it was to be in New York City on the 15 year anniversary of 9/11. That was right when Emily moved to Reno from the East Coast — and just a few days after we met. It was a perfect New York moment and made us feel so grateful for our country and everyone that fights every day to protect it. It seemed so important that we took those few moments to really appreciate our lives and everyone in them.

For those of you who haven’t been – Cipriani is a New York staple and the people watching is second to none. Not to mention the bellinis are out of this world and the food is really very good. Emily’s grandmother is so chic, and always the life of the party, so getting to catch up with her was definitely a highlight of Day 4. and our two-hour lunch seemed to go by in 15 minutes. We had one more show to attend before we hopped on our flight, and we knew it was going to be a good one. Erin Fetherston was everything we hoped for and more. It was… a DREAM.

Ok, sorry to post like every look from the collection – but seriously, every look she sent down the runway was immaculate.

Some of you might remember Erin Fetherston – Emily wore one of her amazing dresses in this post here – needless to say, we are HUGE fans of hers. Something some of you may not know about NYFW is that you have an assigned seat when you arrive at each show – your seat assignment is printed on your ticket (much like when you go to the theater or a concert). It’s all very formal. Anyhow, at the Erin Fetherston show, things were different and we loved it. You were assigned a section and a row – both of us had front row seats (so cool) but finally, we got to sit next to one another. So things started off very well at this show.

Ashley was feeling a little weird in the morning, as  you know, football is a major love in her life, and it felt strange for her to not be watching opening day. Even though the Niners weren’t playing, she felt like she was missing out on something. But then, in walked Terrell Owens — he sat front row across from us and kept our football FOMO at bay the whole time.

But back to the show,  we love Erin Fetherston for SO many reasons. First of all – she’s like THE most beautiful human ever – inside and out. You can just tell… she radiates this incredible positive energy, and her designs are absolutely stunning. What’s more, she’s an SF girl at heart, and that makes us even more drawn to her.

At this show – her NYFW 10th anniversary – she did not miss a step. Every look, every dress, every accessory, was absolutely perfect. We left the show wanting every piece in our closets, and not just the clothes – the jewelry and shoes as well. She adorned each model with crystal jewelry and shoes from her upcoming collaborations with Unearthen and Tkees. Fetherston, like us, is a self-proclaimed crystal enthusiast, and we cannot wait to buy everything! (Both are available on her website for purchase now, FYI.)

What’s more – the designs in her collection spoke true to who she is, and to who we are as well. Like Fetherston, we’re real women, with real lives, and real bodies, and that made us love her designs even more.

“Entrepreneur, wife, and new mother, Fetherston explains, ‘I want these clothes to serve women through the ever changing phases of their lives.’ Having recently given birth, Fetherston carefully observed which pieces of her wardrobe survived the pregnancy edit. ‘Certain silhouettes always work, whether you want to conceal one thing or accentuate another. I based this collection on those foundations, with plenty of eye candy mixed in too.'”

Fetherston‘s wardrobe building approach is a breath of fresh air in the face of fast fashion. “Sometimes I feel our industry betrays its customer with the IN-one-day-OUT-the-next design cadence.  Rather than take the traditional route of seasonal collections, I see this as the first installment of many to follow.”  This translates to an offering of staples designed for both year-round and life-long relevance.  “The idea is to honor the investment women make in their clothing by continually designing new items that tie back to what’s already in their closet.  You can trust that next season’s blouse will wear well with this season’s trousers.”

It’s safe to say, we LOVE her and everything she stands for in this fast fashion world. Her clothes are beautiful, affordable, and they are sure to stand the test of time. You’ll be sure to see us featuring them  soon on the blog – Ashley is pre-ordering the crystal Tkees sandals, and Emily can’t wait to get her hands on one of the pink longline blazers!

From Erin Fetherston, we headed back to the hotel to pack our bags and then to the airport to catch our flights. Although we were sad to say goodbye to NYFW, we were ready to head home. We are so excited for next season though – and can’t wait to bring you along again!

If you have any questions for us about NYFW, we’d love to hear them. We’ll be finishing up our NYFW coverage with a post on “everything we wish we had known” next week! Be sure to head back here – because it’ll be a post you definitely don’t want to miss! XooX
