Last weekend, Joe and I hosted 50 of our closest friends and family members in our backyard for our engagement party. If I’m being completely honest, I think I’m just now fully recovered. We had way too much fun but it was so worth it! Throughout this entire process, we said we wanted everything to have a casual and laid-back vibe and that’s why we thought doing it in our backyard would be the best bet!

I am definitely not a natural born hostess, so this party was a lot of stress for me. But thanks to Joe’s mom, and the help of our friends everything came together beautifully. We really wanted to have Mexican food at the party, so we decided to make it a fiesta theme!
It was so much fun to decorate and shop for the party. I usually never lean toward anything too colorful so it was good to break me out of my usual black, white and neutral routine. We got lucky with the best weather (very rare for the Bay Area) and it was the perfect night.
The highlight was 100% the bar. We collaborated with a local bar, Rye on the Road, and they were honestly amazing. We had three signature cocktails along with a selection of beer and wine. The bar was stunning and everyone was obsessed! If you are ever hosting an event in the Bay Area, we highly recommend using them!
