Ashley’s Top 10 Books of 2022

This was the year I read the most books I ever have – 154 to be exact, with 12 days still to go!! I am so proud of myself, but because I read so many, it was harder to narrow down my favorites. After much thought, I finally finalized them.  I cannot wait to start my 2023 list!  So, in no particular order,  here are my Top 10 Books of 2022.

Top 10 Books of 2022

The  Younger  Wife

by Sally Hepworth

I have never read a Sally Hepworth book I didn’t love. This one had so many twists and turns and it definitely kept me guessing! I love a book of family secrets where you’re not quite sure who to believe. This book had all of that and more! I loved it!

Secluded Cabin Sleeps 6

by Lisa Unger

Lisa Unger wrote one of my favorite books last year too (Last Girl Ghosted) and what I loved about this one is that they were TOTALLY different. They were both definitely in the same genre, but I was so impressed she wrote them both. This was another book with so many twists and turns. There were lots of breadcrumbs along the way, but I never could have predicted them all. Secluded cabin, huge storm, no power or wifi – what could go wrong??

Book Lovers

by Emily Henry

I love Emily Henry and her books always make me feel so good. This was the prefect book to kick off my summer reads and it has everything you could want in a beach read. If you like the enemies to lovers trope, you will like this a lot!

Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir

by Matthew Perry

One thing about me: I love a celebrity memoir – especially when it involves addiction. So knowing that, I knew right off the bat I would be obsessed with this book. I am a huge Friends fan, and have such a soft spot for Matthew Perry. This was incredibly dark, and sad but also amazing at the same time. It was unlike any addiction memoir I have ever read before. He always used alone and so there were no juicy secrets spilled like in some of the other celebrity memoirs I have read. Because of this, it was so much of his own inner dialogue. It was so raw and honest and also so heartbreaking at the same time. He wrote it with so much vulnerability, but also with a tinge of humor that only he could pull off. I laughed. I cried. I loved him even more. Bravo!

Every Summer After

By Carley Fortune

How was this a debut novel? I am so shook this is her first book and cannot wait to watch her career flourish. In fact, I already preordered her next book that comes out next year. I very rarely think about books after I finish them. My mentality is usually just “onto the next” – but that’s impossible with these characters and this story. It’s a second chance romance done so well. I was obsessed!

Things We Never Got Over

by Lucy Score

This was a Kindle Unlimited book – which are normally pretty good but usually not Top 10 worthy! I could totally see this being turned into a movie. The characters are cute, the story is a little far-fetched but entertaining!

The Rewind

by Allison Winn Scotch

I love love loved this book! It had such a nostalgic feeling. This is also a second chance romance book, but SO different from Every Summer After. I could not put this down! It is so freaking cute and would be the best holiday read!

The It Girl

by Ruth Ware

Do you remember that early 2000s movie The In Crowd? This book reminds me of that! It was a different style of thriller, but I was hooked! The It Girl of their college ends up dead, and ten years later her friends reconnect to find out the truth. So so good!

Roughest Draft

by Emily Wibberly

I cannot tell you how much I loved this book. I know I said this list was in no particular order, but if I had to choose a number one favorite book of the year, this would be it. It was just perfect. The theme for this year was second chance romance, I guess because this is the third book on this list that fit into the category. READ THIS BOOK!

One Night on the Island

by Josie Silver

Another super cute romance book to add to your list. This one was adorable. The main character could not be more different than me, but I absolutely loved her. She was quirky and someone you just rooted for. It’s set on a remote Irish Island so it’s the perfect book to cozy up and read by the fire with some wine or by the pool – it’s good no matter where you read it.

Honorable Mention:

It was so hard narrowing my list down this year so there are a few more books I wanted to mention!

When We Were Bright and Beautiful

A Flicker in the Dark

The Prisoner

Meant to Be
