For those of you who are new around here — and even for our longtime followers that may have missed the story — I (Emily) am going to bring you back to the very beginning.
The beginning of our friendship.
Ashley and I have been best friends for 16 years now. So even though this story is very old – it seems like it was yesterday.
I moved from Connecticut to Nevada at the very beginning of my freshman year of high school. I was the new girl at a very small Catholic school in a very small town. Everyone knew I was new – but very few people were willing to reach out. To make matters worse, I had tested into Sophomore and Junior classes, so no one knew what grade I was in. It was lonely, for sure.
3rd period rolled around. Microbiology with Mr. Motter. I was the first person in class – and he showed to my seat. “Don’t worry – the girls in this class will make you feel at home” he said. It was pajama dress up day for Homecoming week, and as most high school girls did in the early 2000s – I was wearing a Juicy Couture jumpsuit. I took out my lipgloss – Lip Venom – who remembers it?!?
Slowly but surely students started to filter in. I was getting a lot of questioning looks. I’m a huge introvert, so I just kept my eyes down and doodled in my notebook. Out of nowhere I hear, “OMG you’re the new girl… and YOU’RE wearing Juicy Couture?!?! And is THAT LIP VENOM???? OMG we have to be best friends.” Sounds like Ashley – doesn’t it?
As they say… the rest is history!
Ever since that first microbiology class, we’ve been sharing fashion and beauty tips with one another every day. The Visionary Gel Lipstick by Shiseido and the Minimalist Whipped Powder Blush are two of my latest beauty discoveries, and if you follow us on stories – you have known this for quite some time now. I’ll reiterate it here. I am usually a lipgloss girl because I find lipstick to be too high maintenance and drying on my lips — but not with The Visionary Gel Lipstick by Shiseido. It is the perfect mix of a lipstick and a gloss. It goes on smooth and nourishes your lips. It isn’t dry and chalky like other lipsticks I have found. As for colors – I LOVE the Pixel Pink.
Next I am also obsessed with the Minimalist Whipped Powder Blush. Just like the lipstick it is moisturizing and nourishing on your skin. I also love that the color isn’t overwhelming. You apply it with your fingers and it just gives you a nice healthy glow.
Speaking of nice healthy glows – Shiseido is also pretty much the gold standard when it comes to sun protection. If you haven’t checked out their SPF line – you absolutely HAVE to.
