New bathroom, new season, new spring beauty routine. It’s as simple as that.
I love spring. Not only is it my birthday season, but in spring, everything feels brand new. That being said, it is the perfect time to re-vamp your beauty routine. So today I am sharing my new spring beauty routine with you. Now – let me have you know, I am anything but a beauty expert. In fact I am quite the opposite. But — I make due with what I’ve got — and thank God I have Ashley around to tell me what is the latest and greatest. I rarely change up my beauty routine, but this spring I’ve added a couple of new things into my repertoire, like an amazing illuminating powder, and a brand new perfume. Those are in this post, and so are all my tried and true products as well – I’ve even linked my makeup bag! Enjoy!
Hand Soap: When you have a baby – you are constantly washing your hands. I wash mine probably 20+ times a day, and therefore I like it to be a pleasant experience. Enter this Aesop hand soap. Not only does it smell heavenly, but it has tiny pieces of pumice in it, so it exfoliates your hands while you are washing them. It literally feels like you are in a beautiful spa every time you wash your hands, and everyone that comes to our house becomes obsessed with it. Do yourself a favor and order a bottle. It is one of my little indulgences, and I promise you’ll fall in love as well!
Lotions and potions: My skin is REALLY dry. Not only do I live in the desert, but I have eczema prone skin as well – so I have to be sure I am hydrating it at ALL times. After I left the hospital with David I had eczema everywhere, so my girlfriend, Emily, recommended I try the Cetaphil cream in the tub. I had already used their lotion for years, but the cream is truly amazing for really intense hydration. I also have become obsessed with this PCA Skin neck cream. I am turning 30 this year, and my skin isn’t what it used to be. I was snapchatting the other day – and all I could see where neck wrinkles (GAH) so I figured it was time to take action. This stuff works wonders! Also – I never leave home without an SPF 50 – my melasma (as I have mentioned before) is pretty ugly – so I slather this Supergoop SPF 50 (mixed with cetaphil) to ensure I hydrate and keep my brown spots at bay. I also just recieved this amazing Kerstin Florian day creme and night creme and I have been loving them. The night creme is super hydrating and I love the little scooper it comes with – you can see it on our instastories!
Eyes: After I moisturize, I do my eyebrows and my eyeliner. As many of you know, I get my lashes done (my girl’s name is Jaclyn and she works at Posh salon – for those of you local ladies) so I don’t really ever wear mascara. I don’t wear eyeliner all that much anymore either unless I am shooting – but when I do – I use Revlon Colorstay in black/brown. I have used it FOR YEARS, and I’ll never switch. Then I fill in my brows with the Anastasia eyebrow pen. I also use this Nars concealer all around my eyes – it’s my futile attempt at trying to hide “the tired”. I wish I could say I had some amazing eyeshadow to tell you about – but momma aint got time for that – sooo…. 🙂
Brushes: As I said before, I am no beauty expert, and I am sure I use the wrong brushes for the wrong things, but this sigma brush set is amazing. They are extremely soft, user friendly, and I love that I don’t have to think and pick out a bunch of different brushes for myself.
Foundation/Concealer: Because my melasma is pretty bad right now, I am using a heavier foundation and concealer routine than usual. I love this Becca foundation – it is light, but very full coverage. I wear the color, Shell. I use two pumps of the foundation and one pump of the Benefit “Dew the Hula”. I find that it helps give me more “dewy” and youthful look. Then on I swipe the Nars concealer under my eyes, down the bridge of my nose, and under the arches of my eyebrows. Then I blend using my sigma brushes.
Powder/Bronzer: Next, I apply my tried and true favorite bronzer, Guerlain Terracotta in No. 3, under my cheekbones, and then I dust this Bobbi Brown illuminating powder all over my face.
Lips: On my lips I use a couple of different – completely random things that I have found over the years. First I like to exfoliate – since my skin is always SO dry. Then, I like to use a beautiful nude lipstick with a pink gloss over the top. It’s the perfect combo for spring and summer! This lipstick is MY FAVORITE and I get so many compliments on it. Ashley and I were actually sent it in a blogger gift box early last year, and I have been ordering it off of Amazon ever since! PS it’s only like $7-$12 depending on who you order it from. SCORE!
Perfume: I am really particular about the scents I wear. I really have only worn one perfume for the past few years – I’ll put it below – but just recently, for Christmas, Ashley totally threw my perfume game a curveball. She gifted me a small tube of Byredo’s Gypsy Water hand creme and I couldn’t stop smelling my hands. AND everyone around me started asking what I was wearing. Both perfumes are SO amazing and I can’t really say which one I like more. I like Gypsy Water for daytime – it’s a little bit lighter – and the Francis Kurkdjian for night.
Makeup Bag: The only makeup bag I use – and will ever use – is my Cuyana bag. I love how classic they are, I love that they fit easily in my purse, and I love that you can monogram them. Really, they’re just stunning. I get asked all the time where I got mine – so I figured I’d put it in here! For $110 you get a small bag and a larger one as well. I am obsessed with mine and I love to give the set as a gift as well!
SO there you have it. My new spring beauty routine. Some oldies, some newbies, but all things I am truly obsessed with. Feel free to ask my any questions you may have! XooX
