Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve heard about the popular designer rental brand, Rent the Runway. It’s one of my favorite ways to get an outfit for a special occasion. And with the holidays quickly approaching, now is the time to book your first rental. I’ll tell you 5 reasons why below.

1) It’s easy
I can’t stress this one enough. Rent the Runway is SOOOO easy to use. You put in the date of your event, the size and then all of your options come up. You can even add a second size for free if you are worried about the fit. They show real customers wearing the dress with feedback about how it fit and their body type. For me, my favorite feature is if it runs true to size or not. This is so helpful when trying to shop for your body type, and I really appreciate all of the honest feedback from other women.
2) It’s affordable and convenient
If you’re like me and always have so many weddings or events, it’s crazy to buy a new outfit for each one. It gets to be super expensive, and oftentimes, you end up only wearing it once. Rentals start at just $30– you can’t beat that! If you know you are going to an event out of town, you can just ship your items there, we did this for Fashion Week, and it was so amazing not to have to lug along extra outfits. They also have stores in Washington D.C., Chicago, Las Vegas, and New York. They mail you a prepaid shipping label and envelope and you just drop the dress off at a UPS box — how easy is that?
3) They have accessories too
Rent the Runway has recently started offering more than just special occasion dresses. They have expanded their offerings to accessories and clothing. They have bags, jewelry, sunglasses, scarves, jackets, pants, tops, you name it! Emily has been doing Rent the Runway unlimited — so stay tuned for a full post on that service.
4) You can shop by occasion
I love this feature. You can shop by whatever type of event you are attending. For example, black tie, homecoming, military ball, gala, wedding, daytime, party, rehearsal dinner, bachelorette, bridal shower etc. This saves so much time filtering out looks that aren’t event appropriate. They also feature plus size dresses and dresses by designers who showed at fashion week.
5) You can discover new brands
The dress I’m wearing is Jason Wu, which is someone who I adore but could never afford. I loved the chance to be able to wear one of his designs. It was so well made and I felt like such a princess wearing this emerald green gown. I love that I get to experience such a high-end quality brand at an affordable price point. So if you love Halson, Monique Lhullier, or Oscar de la Renta, this is your loophole to wearing these gorgeous designs!
