10 Bible Verses To Calm Worry, Fear and Anxiety

Emily of Two Peas in a Prada shares her favorite bible verses - 10 Bible Verses To Calm Worry, Fear and Anxiety - 2 Timothy 1:7

Hello, Everyone.  When I open our instagram every day, there is a lot of anger. Last week, our DMs were filled with so much hate. Despite this, I very much believe that love will overcome. I believe in the power of prayer. I believe in the good of humanity. I believe in meaningful change. And I very much believe that only Christ can bring us through this, stronger than ever.

What I do know, is that Christ brings me peace. Christ’s love calms my worries. At this point in time, opening my bible instead of social media is what is helping me to remember that there is good in the world. His word helps me remember that even though blogging is my job, it is my larger calling to be strong in my faith, to love as Christ loved, and to shed light in a world that can seem SO filled with darkness and hate.

Even if you do not share my faith, I am sure there is something here for you. I hope some of these words encourage you to turn to Him during this time. If you would like to share your favorite verses or excerpts from your faith – that are helping you during this time – we are all ears. We can all learn from one another. We love people of all races, ethnicities, and religions, and we believe that leading with love is an important step in healing a deeply hurt and broken world.

Sending all of you so much love. If you haven’t, please read through our list of anti-racist resources, here.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

3.) Philippians 4:6

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

4.) Deuteronomy 31:6

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

5.) John 14:27

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

6.) Isaiah 43:2

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire,  you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.

7.) 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

8.) Isaiah 40:29-31

He gives strength to the weary, And to him who lacks might He increases power. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

9.) Jeremiah 29:11

I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

10.) Jeremiah 17: 7-8

Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

  1. Thank you for these awesome scriptures. I firmly believe more than anything, the only way to move forward and implement change is through Jesus! Only when our relationship with the Lord is right can we (with His love) begin to love others. He calls us to love others as we love ourselves….that includes our fellow men and women despite our ethnicity, the color of our skin, our social and economic status, our professions, etc.. We can’t do that on our own, but we can ask Him to give us His love, grace and mercy to love others like He loves us. The song Give Me Your Eyes by Brandon Heath is exactly what all of us should be praying. What a changed world we would have if we all could do that…something to look forward to in Heaven!
