To be completely honest, I have been struggling with what to pack for weeks, but I finally narrowed it down. I was very overwhelmed since the street style there is sooooo on point. There is so much pressure to look chic and put together at all times. I really wanted to choose outfits that would be both stylish and practical- and hopefully not make me look like a tourist. I figure we will be walking a lot, so flat and comfy shoes are key pieces. I am really trying to work
sneakers into my outfits recently, so this weekend is a perfect opportunity. This is the third year I’ve had my
Jimmy Choo boots and are a staple for any kind of cooler weather.
I’m taking lots of jackets- leather, army and a new piece from
BB Dakota to shoot while I’m there. I am meeting up with one of my favorite bloggers, Carina of
Her Open Window for a shoot; so be excited for that because I sure am! It’s no surprise that I’m taking multiple scarves with me too. The weather is supposed to be rainy so I am bringing a few different layering options- plus a poncho to keep me warm on the plane! As for accessories, I am switching out of my Givenchy Antigona for my beloved
Balenciaga City Bag. I first bought this bag for my trip to London a few years ago because of the convenience of it. You can wear it top handle or cross-body, so it’s great for walking around and soaking in the sights. I plan on taking my camera everywhere I go – so to not have to hold my purse is huge. I love that it zips at the top – when you are walking around a big city you can never be too safe!
I’m keeping the jewelry simple and just packing my staple pieces- Valentino & Margaret Elizabeth for the win! I don’t want to waste any cherished time trying to figure out what jewelry I’m wearing each day so I decided to just pack my favorites. I’m taking my Prada sunnies instead of my usual Ray Bans- they go with everything and add a little more glamour to each outfit.
As far as beauty goes, I want to keep it basic. If you can’t tell already, I don’t want to take a ton of time getting ready each day because I want to take full advantage of every second I have there. The Kat Von D contour kit is a lifesaver- everything you need in one place. Plus, you can build it up so the kit can be used for both day and night looks. I never go anywhere without my Tarte blush or my Tom Ford perfume– so, no surprise there. I recently switched my skin care over to Origins and have been obsessed- keep your eye out for a post on this soon.
If you have any NYC recommendations for me I would LOVE to hear them, so please comment below!
