Here at Two Peas – we have always been extremely candid about our experiences with botox and fillers. We like to keep it as honest as possible here, and we’ve never hidden the fact that we both get botox regularly and that I (Emily) get my lips done. Ashley wrote about her experience >>> here, but I have never put my botox story on the blog. It’s about time! So… let’s take it back to the beginning…
I started getting botox when I was 22. I actually think Ashley was with me at my very first botox appointment. At the time she told me I was insane and that it was premature. That’s what a good friend does. They tell you you’re perfect just the way you are… and I absolutely was. We all are. But there’s nothing wrong with wanting to look your best. My opinion then… which is still my opinion now… is the earlier you start with botox the better. When it comes to deep wrinkles on your face, botox is proven to be preventative. So, in my opinion – botox just goes hand in hand with incredible skincare.
After a year of getting botox, I decided I wanted to get my lips done. I was 23. I always had tiny lips, and I just wanted a little more oomph. I have never looked back. The best part about my lips – is that until I put my lip injections on our instagram stories… 99% of our followers had NO IDEA that I had lip injections. That is because… as with all things…. moderation is KEY. The same applies to botox and fillers.
So let’s speed up to the present. I was just about due for my Botox, when Emily from Bella Grey Med Spa reached out to me to see if I’d like to tour her new facilities. I had been going to the same woman for botox and fillers for years, but to be honest, I wanted a second opinion. Sometimes a fresh perspective is good, and I was interested in Emily’s practice. At Bella Grey Emily specializes in botox and filler procedures that most people do not offer. IE: facial contouring, non-surgical jaw augmentation, chin augmentation, nose augmentation, and under eye correction. In fact, her most in-demand procedure is the non-surgical face lift. <<< This stuff is crazy. If you want to see more, check out her Instagram before and afters. She is so unbelievably talented.
After speaking with her on the phone, I was even more intrigued. She was a single mom who put herself through school. She was/is a nurse practitioner that works in a family office, but her passion is for injectables and for making people feel like the most beautiful versions of themselves. I loved that about her. As you know, Ashley and I are all for supporting local businesses and female entrepreneurs – so I took Emily up on the offer. I am so happy I did.
Bella Grey Med Spa is located on Vine street – and is easily accessible from all parts of town. The vibe is chic and modern. I felt at home the minute I stepped in the door. She has a litte boutique set up in the front, so you can shop for any girls you might need while you wait. The other part of the experience I loved is that Emily really knows what will look best for your face. I told her what I thought I wanted her to do, and she just kind of shook her head. She then explained what she thought we should do… and we went with her expertise. I am SO happy we did. She took out my crows feet, my undereye bags, and my forehead lines all in one shot (no pun intended). Then we got to my lips. She said to me “Your top lip is just so much smaller than your bottom lip… we need to fatten up your top lip…. just a bit”. That is what we did. She did such an amazing job, it looks so incredibly natural, and I am thrilled with my results.
I also dragged Joe along with me to Bella Grey Med Spa… for what we call “Bro-tox”. Men don’t realize that their wrinkles really age them too – and what a world of a difference a little “Bro-tox” here and there can make! So ladies – the next time you head to get your every 3 month shots… GRAB YOUR HUSBAND. I know they’ll kick and scream the whole way there… but IT IS SO WORTH IT. And they will thank you in the end! 🙂
