Bedroom Refresh with The Company Store

I am so excited to share our bedroom refresh with you guys today! It is no secret, I do not love our house. For those of you that don’t know about housing in the Bay Area, it’s a nightmare to say the least. But I am not going to spend this post complaining about the housing situation in San Francisco, but simply focus on how to make the best of the circumstances you are given. I have accepted the fact that my home will never look like Emily’s, but our is growing on me!

Our house was built in 1930, we don’t have a dishwasher, or a garbage disposal, or any kitchen counters. But we have a driveway and a garage – you win some, you lose some. Sometimes the pressure of Instagram can be overwhelming, I don’t normally feel this pressure until it comes to house stuff. My feed is flooded with gorgeous white kitchens, perfect grey velvet couches with the perfect combinations of pillows, and light and airy bedrooms that simply don’t exist where I live. So instead of being unhappy, we decided to do a little refresh to add some light and airiness to our rather dark bedroom. When we bought our bedroom set, the blog had just started and I had no idea it would grow into what it is today, so looking back, I wish we chose lighter colors, but there are definitely ways to update and upgrade!

The Company Store has an amazing selection of bedding — one of the best I’ve ever seen. When I saw this textured duvet cover, I was sold. I fell in love with it immediately! We also upgraded our actual comforter too! We had been using the one I’ve had since college – and that was a long time ago! When I shared the sneak peek with you guys on Insta, you ALL asked me about the bedding, so I am excited to finally post it here on the blog!

I really wanted to have some fur accents too, without them being overwhelming. We love these faux fur pillow covers, and throw. The neutral tones were a compromise between Joe and I so the room wouldn’t seem too feminine. I’ve always wondered how women convince their husbands to let them have pink accents — because Joe is definitely not that guy!

I wish you guys could feel the sheets we got — they are so soft! We went with a deep pocket set, because there is nothing worse than trying to get a fitted sheet on a mattress by yourself! They make the bed making process super fast and easy!

The Company Store also has an amazing assortment of decor items as well. Since our nightstands and furniture are on the darker side, I really wanted some lighter accents to brighten up the room. Illume is one of my favorite brands and this cracked candle is almost too gorgeous to light! Coconut Milk Mango is one of those scents that has sentimental meaning for me, as it is my official smell of summer because these are the candles my parents use on our houseboat.

As discouraging as Instagram can be sometimes, I am so happy with how our bedroom refresh turned out. Thanks so much to The Company Store for finally giving me the confidence to share our bedroom on social media!
