It’s no secret. The 70’s are back in a major way this Fall.
Although I’m loving all the fringe and the suede, my favorite 70’s inspired trend for Fall is…. flared denim.
The pair in these photos – from A Gold E – have quickly become my favorites. They’re easy on the wallet, they’re oh-so soft, and I love the way they elongate the leg.
I paired them with a long men’s button down shirt, with clean lines, which adds a touch of sophistication. I feel like flared denim can look a little juvenile and festival-y if it’s not done right, so this shirt was the perfect match.
Funny story about this shirt… my husband actually bought it to wear with his tux for our wedding, but it was too small. So… being the resourceful wife that I am, I took it off his hands. 🙂 A little tailoring later – and voila! – the most perfect white button down in the world. My husband will tell you, I love re-purposing menswear as my own. I am constantly stealing his sweaters and t-shirts, but this shirt is my favorite hand-me-down to date. It’s absolutely perfect in every way.
One last story about this post. I shot these photos on Monday night, and when I sent an iphone photo of the outfit to Ashley, she said, “OMG, Sooo Rachel Zoe.” To me, there is no better compliment in the world.
I hope you enjoy – and I hope you embrace flared denim as I have. Trust me… it’s the best.
