Brand Spotlight: Reformation

I went to a Black-Tie Optional wedding this past weekend. While Black-Tie Optional can be confusing to some – especially the boys, to tux or not to tux? –  for me, it is the best excuse to go shopping for a beautiful, new, floor length gown. However, this time, I was having difficulty finding the one. Most of my friends were Renting the Runway, I had scoured my favorite local boutiques, and I had exhausted all of my online options as well. I wanted something classic, but sexy too. Being in the in-between stage of pregnancy — the stage where you feel larger than life, but are lacking in the baby bump department– was making things incredibly difficult as well.

Thank God for Reformation, a brand that I found via instagram. After looking into the company further, I absolutely fell in love. Their brand slogan is, ” we make killer clothes that don’t kill the environment,” a mission we all can get on board with. Reformation is an eco-concious, sustainable, American designed, and in-house manufactured, clothing brand =  swoon. They have been around since 2009, and have acquired a massive celebrity cult following since then. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Taylor Swift, Alexa Chung, and Lily Aldridge all count Reformation pieces as staples in their closets.

The brand continuously puts out cutting edge designs at affordable prices, because at Reformation, “a sketch becomes a dress in less than a month, because patience is a virtue [they] give zero f*cks about.” Despite the company’s immense success and popularity, the brand’s founder, Yael Aflalo, counts their commitment to the clothes and to the earth as their biggest accomplishments.

Get ready to fall in love, Reformation has something for everyone. And be ready to shop – Reformation’s designs are made in limited editions, so if you see something you want, act quickly.

The dress I wore was the Lumen; one part classic and a million parts sexy. The night of the wedding, for the first time in my 14 weeks of pregnancy, I finally felt like myself again.
