Finally recapping Day 1 of New York Fashion Week! Late is better than never right? The past few weeks have been a whirlwind, to say the least. Two days after I got back from New York, I headed to London for their fashion week AND Emily gave birth to a healthy baby boy… I’ll let her tell you more about that. For now, onto the fashion….
Shop Day 1 Look:
This Fashion Week was a little different because Emily obviously couldn’t come due to the impending birth of baby David. But, I knew I couldn’t hack it alone — so I brought my friend Rachael along. She is also the brains behind our entire Instagram game, so it was so nice to have her there!
Right when we landed, our amazing hotel, The Conrad (whole post on this coming soon!), got us checked in right away. This was a game changer, so we had plenty of time to unpack and get ready for our first show. Being the crazy person that I am, I ended up taking a lunchtime Barry’s class right after our red-eye. I thought it would help me wake up! It was so weird to be in a different studio but it was cool to check out a class in another city.
I was exhausted from the flight and the workout so I wanted an easy outfit. I threw on my pajama top, leather leggings, and fringe jacket for an easy look! Plus, this gorgeous Chanel bag from Trendlee.
Our first show of the day was Chromat — which was surreal to me — because it inspired this post! I can’t believe last season I was writing about it & dreaming to get in, and a few short months later I was in attendance at the show! It was amazing to see such a diverse group of women walking in the show. I love to see real bodies, different races, and people of all sexual orientations being included. It was the perfect way to kick off fashion week!
From there we went to the Club Monaco presentation. It was STUNNING! The event was chock-full of celebrities. Seeing Grace Coddington was a life goal met. Drew Barrymore’s brand did the makeup for the presentation, so she was there, and so was Katie Holmes. But I didn’t get to see either of them 🙁 The clothes were incredible and I can’t wait to buy them come fall!
Our last stop of the evening was an event at Thakoon hosted by Chriselle Lim and Danielle Bernstein. It was cool to get to see these bloggers in real life. Sometimes I forget that they’re real people too – so it was refreshing to see them interacting with all their fans!
