One of the most rewarding things about being a teacher is watching your students succeed. Humbert Lee approached me and told me that he was starting a clothing line and online retail store. Often times teenagers say these types of things, but they never come to fruition. This was not the case with Humbert and his store Golden Devils. I respect anyone who works hard for what they want. And it is a privilege to be partnering with him for this post.
To be honest or “tbh” like the kids say, I would have purchased this shirt whether I knew Humbert or not. You all know I have a little hip hop in me see here and here. So this shirt jumped out at me right away!
I decided to interview Humbert about what inspired him to create Golden Devils. Check it out below:
What inspired you to create a company at such a young age?
The business life inspired me to create it. I had previously worked on starting something with a business partner before and it didn’t work out. So that competition is something that motivates me to be better and to strive past others.
How do you get inspiration for your designs?
I get inspiration from my surroundings. I have several designers that I met through social media that help me with creating and perfecting my designs.
How did you come up with the name, Golden Devils?
I wanted to be unique and stand out from other brands. Golden Devils is kind of an oxymoron so I wanted to represent everyone but also prove myself. Golden Devils isn’t a name that’s easy to forget and that was important to me.
What do you have to say to people who don’t take you seriously because of your age?
I would say to to them, that the fact that my company has already made it this far and became something that’s real and tangible, that that is proof enough that I’m serious.
What is coming up next for Golden Devils?
I want to expand nationwide and gain customers from all over the United States. My hope is to eventually go from an online store to a company that is sold in stores across the Nation.
