Shop Emily’s Favorite Nordstrom Sale Cardigans:
Ashley and I were shook this year about the cardigan selection in the Nordstrom sale. And here’s the thing – it wasn’t necessarily bad… it was just super shocking and surprising.
Usually each brand comes out with some kind of cardigan – it is fall prep after all – but usually the cardigans are a little bit different. Not this year. This year, all the anniversary sale cardigans seemed to blur into one. They were all longline, all in the same color palate, and they all had the same shape and feel. It was/is crazy.
Since you all usually buy cardigans through our site… we thought it would be a fun idea to try them all on and rank them – awards show style. Enjoy!
Best Overall:
Leith had our favorite cardigan last year too, except it was more of a cocoon sweater and it ran pretty large! This year – they came out with a new and improved version. The knit is the same material and softness, but the shape is 10x better and it is much more flattering! I also love that the knit feels very high quality, and I am not worried about it pilling as I wear it and wash it.
This cardigan It hits both of us around the knee – which makes it perfect for wearing with jeans and a white tee, but also amazing with a midi slip dress – like in our post yesterday. This cardigan comes in 5 perfect for fall colors, but we’ll also wear it through summer over a tank and jean shorts!
Softest:
The is the “dark horse” of the NSale <<< that is what Ashley has been calling it!
This cardigan was SUCH a find. Ashley found it while I was drooling over how soft the BP lounge set was from our post yesterday – here. It is made from the same fabric as the lounge set – and it is the softest, most amazing, lightweight cardigan ever. I will definitely be wearing it this fall as it isn’t too thick or too warm.
As far as softness goes – we can’t forget the Barefoot Dreams cardigans. They come in a close second.
Ashley absolutely LOVES these (see above). I know I am in the minority here, but for whatever reason some of the barefoot dreams cardigans are SO soft and warm that they make my arms feel a little bit claustrophobic. Does anyone know what I mean? I will stick with their AMAZING blankets all day every day!
Best Value (cheapest):
The BP longline cardigan is – by far – the best bang for your buck. If you’re looking for quantity, this cardigan is the one for you. It is thicker than the Leith cardigans and it has pockets on the front – so there are slight differences. Don’t get us wrong… the quality is good too… we just think the Leith one is better.
Most Slimming:
Just because of the weight of the cardigan and the length – the Leith is BY FAR the most slimming.
Best Chunky Knit:
If it were last year that amazing cable-knit Topshop cardigan would have won, hands down! But for whatever reason, chunky knits were NOT a thing this year. The best chunky knit sweater we found was this one. Even though it’s not super chunky or cableknit – it is defitinetly cute. You can see Ashley wearing it >>> here.
Best Cashmere Blend:
This Halogen cashmere blend cardigan is AMAZING! It is definitely more pricey – but if you want cashmere – this is the way to go!
Best Poncho:
I bought this poncho in the camel color and I am SO obsessed with it. You can see it in the try on post >>> here, and it is REVERSIBLE!!!
Best Designer:
Since we’re counting “ponchos” as cardigans – the Missoni poncho wins hands down. If you can buy Missoni for just over $200… count us in! We love the fact that this poncho literally has every color in it, so you can mix and match what you wear it with SO easily. I paired it with jean shorts yesterday, but I also will wear it with black pants and a while long sleeve come fall/winter!
We hope you enjoyed this format! We just thought it would be fun to really break it down and give you all the info – all in one place!
