Do you ever buy something so fabulous but don’t wear it because you are “saving” it for a special occasion? Well, this coat has been sitting in my closet for a while now- just itching to be worn.

I purchased it especially for our trip to New York and couldn’t wait to be somewhere that was cold enough to wear it. Well, turns out, New York wasn’t so cold. The weather was amazing- we got so incredibly lucky (minus one afternoon of rain). The mornings were just chilly enough that I could wear this jacket without looking like a crazy person. I probably still looked crazy and definitely like a tourist while stopping to take photos of almost everything I saw.
On Saturday morning, I met up with Carina from Her Open Window. We had coffee, shot this look and then had an amazing brunch in the West Village. Even though she and I had never technically met before, it truly seemed as if we had been friends forever. Growing up where we did (Reno area), this isn’t an uncommon situation. We have a plethora of mutual friends and our meeting seemed more like catching up with an old friend instead of making a new one. Her blog is one of my favorites, and I’m not just saying that because she’s my friend. Click here to see for yourself 🙂
She showed me around her neighborhood and told me so many incredible New York stories. We spotted a paparazzi walking past us outside of the Trump SoHo, she told me how she saw Kate Hudson and her son at brunch last week, happened to be at dinner at the same place as Beyonce a few months ago… I mean she really is living the dream! The hardest part was deciding where to take the pictures. Every single part of SoHo was so different and beautiful- I wanted to photograph it all! A full New York round-up will be on the blog next week and I am so excited to share my pictures and experiences with you guys.
About the jacket: you guys know I have a thing for BB Dakota jackets. See here, here, here, here, and here. Okay, so maybe it’s an obsession at this point. And this one is no different, it’s just so amazing. The ombre look distinguishes it from your typical ivory or camel coat. The beautiful colors and modern twist on this jacket made it irresistible- not to mention affordable ($150)! A MaxMara coat has been on my fashion bucket list for some time now- and this one immediately gave off the same kind of vibes, but without the insane price tag. I am so happy I picked this one up and I can’t wait to wear it non-stop for the next few months.
