You guys have all been asking to see some ring pics, so I figured we’d start with these. Joe and I have yet to schedule an official engagement shoot, but I am going to write the full engagement story when we do. I don’t want to be too overwhelming with the engagement stuff, but I am open to hearing some post ideas you want! So now… all about the engagement ring!

My Engagement Ring
Joe and I designed the ring together — very untraditional I know, but that’s pretty much how all of this is going to go. We have been together for four years and known each other for five, so it wasn’t really a huge surprise that we would be getting engaged soon. We have always talked about it together, and we decided to ring shop together, too.
We only went to look around at a few places before to get a feel for what I really wanted. I always knew I wanted something a little modern and unique. I am SO not traditional in case you can’t tell. I really fell in love with a version of this ring, but didn’t love everything about it and hated that anyone could just walk into a department store and buy it, but I loved how different it was.
So, I took photos of me trying it on and Joe and I headed down to Carmel to visit with my family’s jeweler, Michael Sherman. He has been designing custom pieces for my family since before I was born, so it only made sense that he did this too. He designed the sapphire ring I am wearing in almost all of my photos — it was a college graduation gift and I wear it every single day.
Michael is incredibly talented and a dear family friend. It was so amazing to work with him on every phase of designing the ring. As you can see below, he took the original design and totally made it his own and I couldn’t be more in love with it. I knew I needed the band to be squared off a bit to make it comfortable for me to wear (my other ring is the same way, and I swear that’s the reason I can wear it every day). We went down there three separate times to meet with him, work on the design, and to size the ring. The whole process was so much fun, and I’m kind of sad it’s over.
It’s actually two pieces with a pavé band that fits inside. I can just wear the pavé band, wear the outer jacket alone, or wear it all together. I love how versatile it is, and it truly is the most “me” thing I have ever seen. To be completely honest, I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.
I can’t wait to share more with you guys! Check out our engagement story.
