Shaving Your Lips – Why You Should Do It

Reno, Nevada Blogger Emily Farren Wieczorek talks about dermaplaning with the tinkle and how to combat dull, dry, lip skin by shaving your lips.

So I am pretty much writing this post on complete accident. A friend had given me a dermaplaning razor years ago, but I had never touched it until Ashley hopped on stories a couple of weeks ago to say that everyone should be “shaving their face”. 1.) How had she and I never talked about this? We literally talk about everything. And 2.) You better believe I headed to the bathroom that instant to dig up the dermaplaning razor and get to work.

So I did. And true to everything Ashley had said, my skin looked better, my makeup looked better, and I had gotten the real, deep, exfoliation that only dermaplaning can get you. Also – if you want to really dermaplane and get the best results, dermaplane with the tinkle, wash your face, tone, moisturize, face oil under your eyes, and then….. high frequency. I promise you – you will be OBSESSED.

How did you think of shaving your lips?

So there I was…. sitting there with this beautifully smooth face… I went to take a sip from my hydroflask… and I felt a dry piece of skin on my lip as I went to take a sip. There and then it was like a lightbulb went off. If dermaplaning took that superficial, dry, dull layer of skin off of your face…. why wouldn’t it do the same for your lips? So I went back to the bathroom to try it. I did it on my dry lips – and although I got some dry skin off – it felt like I had razor burn on my lips. Not so fun. So then I got to thinking…. maybe if I hydrated them first…. maybe that would work? So the next night, I slathered my lips with the Lip Sleeping Mask that we have talked about SO many times, here, here and here… I waited 15 minutes, and then I got to dermaplaning. HOLY TOLEDO. ALL the dead skin came off so easily, and my lips had never felt softer. My lipgloss and lipstick went on smooth, and it was as if I had BRAND NEW LIPS. So as with any new, amazing thing I figure out. I always share it with you.

How do you go about shaving your lips?

It is very simple. Buy this Lip Sleeping Mask, slather it on your lips, wait for 15-20 minutes, pull your lip skin taught, and dermaplane away. As with any time you shave, be careful not to cut yourself. And whatever you do – don’t skip the hydrating part. If you try to shave your lips without first hydrating them, you will cut yourself, or scrape too much away.

What do you need in order to go about shaving your lips?

All you need is this Lip Sleeping Mask and these facial dermaplaning razors.

What risks are there to shaving your lips?

Here’s the deal. I am NOT a doctor – at all. So I can’t tell you this with 100% certainty. But I feel like the risks to shaving your lips are the same as the risks of shaving your legs. If you take your time and you moisturize them ahead of time – I think there’s really very little risk at all. If you’re rushing, not hydrating, and not paying attention – you’re probably going to wind up with some nicks.

Why should I start shaving my lips?

If you want to rid your lips of the disgusting, dry, dull, dead skin that WE ALL have – you should shave your lips. Afterward, your lips will be clean, smooth, and luscious!

  1. This is genius. I have chronic dry, chapped lips. Bought about 30x different kind of chapsticks, nothing works. Bought the lip mask you recommended. Now trying this!
