I realize from all outward appearances – we look like the All-American family.
Hahaha… if you only knew.
A couple of weekends ago, we decided to have some updated family photos taken.
When I had David’s newborn photos taken, William was at school. So even though David is nearly 3.5 months old – we still didn’t have any photos of us as a whole family. The one photo we did have was taken hurriedly at a family wedding, and that just wasn’t going to cut it.
I tried to plan everything as best I could. I booked our photographer on Memorial Day, a Monday, so both boys would be home from school. I booked an early shoot – 8am – right after breakfast, so William would hopefully be in a good mood. And I tried to think about what we would wear. Coordinating outfits – but nothing crazy.
Wouldn’t you know, the day before we took these photos, William took a huge spill in our kitchen resulting in a HUGE bruise on his forehead. You can see it if you look really hard in all of these photos.
AND per usual — everything that could go wrong the morning of our shoot, did. I didn’t get to shower, or wash my hair. Joe couldn’t find a pair of pants that were ironed. A button came off the back of David’s onesie. Henry wasn’t listening. The sprinklers had just gone off – so we had mud EVERYWHERE!!! And despite our best efforts, William was in “a mood” and after three photos – he said “My all done” and walked off… meaning, “I’m all done.”
Good. Great. Grand.
So why am I telling you all of this?
Well… because… it’s real life. And because just from looking at these photos, you would never know. Even though our photographer, Kourtney, somehow managed to capture these amazing moments, where we look like the happiest, All-American Family, the truth of the matter is that we’re really a hot mess – just like everyone else.
Just like everyone else, we have wardrobe malfunctions, unwashed hair, a dog that refuses to listen, and an unruly toddler. 🙂
That being said, I hope you enjoy these updated photos of our family. I am so happy to finally show you some real photos of David, and as always, thank you for following along with our growing family.

Your kids have SO MUCH HAIR! My baby girl finally has a full head of hair at 1 year old, LOL!
