It’s finally here – Ashley’s hospital bags post! I am so excited to finally be sharing this because so many of you asked me to share the suggestions when I asked you guys for your help in packing them! It took me forever to get them together, and I really wanted to make sure I wasn’t bringing too much – jury’s out on that one, lol. But I went through item by item what is actually in my bag. I will definitely update you guys as to what I actually used after!
Ashley’s Hospital Bags
I packed all my bags thanks to the help of the Two Peas fam and Emily’s previous posts. You can check out all three of her hospital bag posts here:
My Bag:
Yeti Tumbler
I know myself and I know that I am so much more likely to drink my water if I have my own cup and my softy straw. These were the first things I packed.
Barefoot Dreams Blanket
Did you really think this wasn’t coming with me?
Towel
There is nothing worse than a tiny towel that doesn’t cover your body. And with pregnancy, most towels seem even smaller. We are very much a bath sheet family, and I know if I decide to shower at the hospital, I will want something soft, familiar and the proper size.
My Own Pillow
This was one of the most suggested items, and I trust you guys. You also said to bring a non-white pillowcase so you will remember to take it home! I am bringing my Slip pillowcase.
Shower Shoes
I feel like I am packing for college all over again; but shower shoes are a must. I am just bringing whatever flip flops I can find – I think these are the only ones I own!
Nursing Bra
I ended up ordering a few different brands, styles so I will let you know my fav after I’ve gotten to test them for a few weeks! I chose only the comfiest looking ones.
Nightshirt
Nursing friendly, soft, and no pants required! I already wear this all the time, so it will be nice to have a piece of home with me.
Pajamas
Okay, so maybe I overdid it on the pajamas, but I can’t help it. I know I’m not going to want to wear anything else. These are my all-time favorites.
Slippers
I already know these are the shoes I will be wearing to and from the hospital. Not going to even fuss with anything else. My feet are SO swollen anyways, and I hear it can sometimes get worse if you receive IV fluids.
Fuzzy Socks
I packed three pairs of fuzzy socks, I got a nice pair, and also some cheapies with traction on the bottom for when I’m actually in labor and will be walking around the halls.
Dry Shampoo
In case I don’t get around to that shower or my labor is hella sweaty.
Travel Toothbrush
I don’t want to have to remember to grab anything more than necessary when I am actually on the way there, so I got these and some extras in case our families are there for an extended period of time.
Nursing Pads
Nipple Cream
Colace
The thing I am most scared about is probably not even labor, but the first poop after labor. Bringing this to help the situation.
Tucks
Frida Mom Hospital Kit
Colleen Rothschild Discovery Kit
Mesh Underwear
Scrunchies
Last-Minute Items
Makeup bag, face wash
For Baby
Custom Name Sticker
This was one of the first things I purchased for baby Joe. I saw them on Instagram and had to have them. She is the sweetest shop owner, and I can’t recommend her enough.
Mittens
I am not exactly sure what’s going to fit baby – we think he is big – so the onesies I packed with the built in mittens may not work – bringing these in case!
Plain Onesies
Everyone said he will live in these, so I am packing two different sizes in case he doesn’t fit in his going home outfit.
Paci
Just in case!
Paci Clip
Mostly bringing this because it’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen!
Receiving Blanket
Baby needs Barefoot Dreams too!
Newborn Set
I cried when this came in the mail – it’s truly the sweetest little thing ever – now we just pray it will fit.
For Joe
Fire Stick
I am packing all of our electronics and snacks in Joe’s bag. This was another item that came highly suggested by you guys!
Power Strip
To charge all of the devices. We are bringing phones, computers, cameras etc.
Extra Long Charging Cord
Everyone said the outlets are always far away from the bed or the chairs, and so we are going to be prepared!
Two Port Wall Charger
Why is it that when you buy anything now it comes with a charging cord, but never the thing to actually plug it in. Every single electronic I have purchased lately is this way — no matter the price. We needed extra anyways, so bringing these two-port USB chargers with us!
Care Packages for Nurses
We wanted to show our nurses how much we appreciated them, so we packed these bins full of snacks, gum, pens & hand lotion!
Bose Soundlink
Love this little waterproof speaker! Joe and I are huge music people, so this will definitely be used the wh
