At Home Activities For Kids

Mom of three, and co founder of the blog, Two Peas in a Prada, Emily Farren Wieczorek shares her favorite At Home Activities For Kids.

With three kids under 5, I have a stockpile of activities laying around to pull out at a moment’s notice. With kids it always seems the simpler the better… so here are my best of the best.  Athletic ball set… endless fun for all three of them. The Magic Tree House Boxed set… DAYS of imaginary storytelling adventure. Friendship bracelet kits… hours of entertainment. Then there are educational options… like this set here.  This post has been a long time coming, but here are my favorite at home activities for kids.

Shop At Home Activities For Kids:

Athletic ball set:

My kids would run around in our backyard for DAYS chasing these balls if we let them. I also love that it makes them play with one another – all while getting precious minutes of physical activity. Joe and I play referee. It is a win win all around.

Toddler Activity Guide:

Such a great resource for when you are at a loss and you want an easy, fun, and educational activity to do at home with your kids!

Homeschool Learning Kits:

Believe it or not, my kids LOVE learning at home. These 180 day supplies of lessons are a great way to take an active role in your children’s educations. I love these for family trips, extended stays with relatives, spring breaks, or holiday vacations! They come in a TON of age ranges too! If your kids are older, just search for their age range!

Kitchen Learning Set:

Many of you are familiar with this set because William uses his knives from it to help me prepare meals ALL the time. I love this set in that it helps teach them how to cook, it facilitates family time, and they are learning so many important life skills — all while having fun!

The Sequence Game:

Ok. If you have kids – or if you know anyone with kids…. This game is THE BEST! My husband brought this one home last year, and I have gifted it to everyone we know ever since!

Flash Cards:

Our kids LOVED these on the drive down to San Diego and I remember using them as a kid. They have them for all age groups. We have color and shape ones for David and Caroline, and sight word ones for William!

Amazon Fire Tablets:

We love these for our kids and we LOVE that they come totally kid friendly and parental controls are super easy to implement. I love Amazon prime shows for when our kids want a little screen time, and the ABC mouse app is amazing as well! The deal they have going on right now is especially amazing!

Imagination Magnets:

This is one of our favorite activities to do with the kids lately! My dad got this amazing set for our kids for Christmas and they have been obsessed with it ever since. It teaches colors, shapes, and we love it because we can all do it together! It works best if you all decide on a design and then you ask your kids, “Ok.. now we need the purple square, now we need the yellow circle….” It makes the whole experience super interactive and fun!

Balloon Games:

With a pack of balloons and a balloon inflator, you can play endless hours of volleyball, tennis, or make a balloon arch fort!

Kids Charades:

Our kids LOVE to play charades and this set of cards helps them come up with the most hilarious ideas of what to act out. This is great to get their imaginations going, and our kids always wind up working so hard and running around that they wear themselves out!

Magic Tree House Box Set:

These books literally provide months of entertainment. William and David love listening to me read them the adventures of Jack and Annie. A book usually takes about two – three days to finish depending on their attention spans and there are 28 books in the set. We usually sit down to read these for a good half an hour before bedtime.

Friendship Bracelet Kits:

What kid doesn’t love to make friendship bracelets? I know I was obsessed with this as a kid and would make them for hours and hours. Obviously nothing has changed. The reviews on these sets are out of this world!

Carnival Games:

These carnival game sets are a great way to get your kids moving. I love that they can be used inside and outside.

Scavenger Hunts:

I always think that scavenger hunts are a fun and interactive way to bring the family together and to get everyone moving!

Metal Detector:

My kids are obsessed with this Amazon Prime show called Adventure Agents and they are always outside digging where their metal detector tells them to. You want to have your kids entertained and learning about their environments for hours at a time – hand them a metal detector!

Good old paper and markers:

Our kids are obsessed with drawing ALWAYS!!! They also LOVE their easel!

Bug collecting outdoor adventure kit:

I wish my kids weren’t into this sort of thing, but they totally are.
